Cap’n Neon
Jonathan Michael Kaplan earned the nickname “Captain” in his teens by way of his fascination with rebels, pirates, and rock n’ rollers, and his ride or die attitude with friends and loved-ones. He embraced this title and crafted a persona he dubbed “Cap’n Neon” which he uses to shed light on all things that make us human with a uniquely 21st century pirate style and Texas-born Florida man weirdness.
Over the years he’s dabbled in numerous artistic forms, being a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, video editor, and that’s just scratching the surface. Beyond his own personal artistic endeavors, he’s also collaborated with local brands across Florida, and has shared the stage with legendary performers and personalities.
One of his earliest releases on the internet remains his most well-known. Hitting YouTube during it’s early years in 2006, the “I’ve Got a Jar of Dirt Remix” was created as a silly salute to an iconic moment in cinema, and wound up a viral internet meme sensation enjoyed by millions and counting.
Cap’n Neon currently resides with his wife and two sons in the ancient city of St. Augustine, FL, official headquarters of The Counteneers.
